FREE 1Gigabyte Gmail as external drive

by Christian Holm Google was the first company to offer 1 GB 'Free' email accounts. There have been followers, of course, but Google will always be Google, the no1 Internet Company right now.
I call these accounts 'free' because I don? think they are really truly free, since you have to allow Google to scan your emails in order to send you personalized ads.
They might not be doing that today, but in the future for sure.

The question is who really needs 1 GB of storage for their email? Not too many people.
But there are other ways to use GMail. There are small programs on the web that allow us to connect to our GMail account and use our massive storage there as an extra hard drive!

What you have to do is to install a small program that helps you transfer the files to and from your own computer to Google. What actually happens is that the program creates an email and attaches the file you choose to transfer. So when you log on to your GMail account via an ordinary web-browser you will find all the files you have uploaded in your inbox as emails with attachments.

This is a convenient tool for people who travel without their notebooks and it can also be used for sharing files with others in an external web based network. Just share the account information and everybody will have access to the files, no matter where they are located.
