In the fall of 2005, Francis was asked by the Department of Information Management at the National Sun Yat-sen University in Kaohsiung, Taiwan to hold a speech on Global management and using the web. Mr. Morris has always had eductaion close at heart so he gracefully accepted.
The speech was 2 hours with an audience of close to 100 master degree or PhD students.
It was considered a fun and very educational speech.
SOME EXCELLENT FEEDBACK/ANALOGY from one of the PhD students
"Many people like to eat the chocolate very much. Needless to say, the chocolate are very delicious for them. But if you want to go fishing today, will you use the chocolate which you like to be the bait? In my opinion, I really think that you will not do that thing, and I believe that you will choose the earthworm instead of the chocolate. No one can deny that the fish like the earthworm more than the chocolate.
In other words, if you want to go fishing and you should prepare the food which the fish like instead of you like.
Today if you want to design the website to attract a lot of people, I think we should try to find what the users really like in their minds. If the internet is like a 'lake', and there is lots of hungry 'fish', (the fish being the users), living in the lake. How can we get the most fish? I think I will use the 'earthworm' which means the website to be the bait, since that ius what 'fish' like! It doesn't matter that I rather prefer chocolate. It's not about me!
